The Biggest Loser: The Finest Finale

The live finale of this season's The Biggest Loser was perhaps the best finale of any reality television show in a very long time. Of course, I'm biased when I say that because the people that I really hoped wouldn't win, didn't!

The show began with Alison bringing out Roger and Mark. We still had to find out who America voted to be the third finalist. Both of them looked great but you could tell Roger went all out when he arrived home. He looked even slimmer than when he left the campus. Drum roll please! America voted for Roger! He then ran off to go change into his weigh-in gear while Alison talked to a slightly disappointed Mark. I'm surprised he didn't break down and cry. Oops, that was mean of me wasn't it?

When all of the former contestants came out and showed off their new bodies to all of us, my jaw dropped. It was obvious that most of them really kicked some calorie-burning butt when they got back home. There were a few standouts though. Amanda looked absolutely stunning! To say that she worked hard to drop her weight would be an understatement. It was unfortunate that her husband Neill didn't seem to have worked as hard as she did. His laziness must have continued back at home. Mallory and Curtis blew me away as well. They looked like a whole other couple and it was great! Bernie and Brittany looked great as well but whoever picked that dress for Brittany didn't do her any favors. That shirring on the front of her dress made her look like she smuggled a fanny pack turned the wrong way around into the auditorium. The only one missing for the finale was Paul. Alison told us that Paul was ill and couldn't make the trip. That's kind of curious if you ask me.

The first big prize to be handed out would be $100,000 to the person among the booted contestants who dropped the most percentage of weight since the start of the show. Curtis led the charge for a long time with his 39.37% drop but when Dan stepped on the scale, he blew Curtis out of the water. Dan had lost an amazing 43.87% but there were still some big hitters that needed to weigh in. Bernie weighed in a couple of people later and amazingly took over Dan's lead with 45.94%. I was so thrilled for him! Oh please let him win it! Brittany weighed, then Jay, and then Mark and guess what? Mark came one pound shy in his weight loss which meant that Bernie won the hundred grand! I jumped up out of my chair and was so happy for him. I hope there aren't any hidden cameras around that caught me doing that.

Now it was time for the biggest prize of them all -- $250,000 to be given to either Roger, Ali, or Kelly. After Alison talked with all three of them and we watched their homecomings, it was time for them to step on the Biggest Loser scale one more time. Because Ali had dropped the highest percentage of weight up to the point of leaving the campus, she was able to select the order that they would weigh in. Roger would be first up followed by Kelly and then herself.

Roger originally weighed 363 pounds and now weighs 199 pounds. He has lost an amazing 164 pounds which turned out to be 45.18%. Kelly originally weighed 271 pounds and needs to have lost more than 122 pounds to take over Roger's lead. She only lost 109 pounds though and 40.22%. Then it was Ali's turn. She began the season weighing 234 pounds and needs to have lost more than 105 pounds to win it all. She lost 112 pounds! Ali is the first female Biggest Loser winner!!!

All three of them looked so fabulous and I wish there had been a few extra minutes left in the show to watch them all celebrate but we were only able to see the confetti drop and hugging begin taking place when Alison told us the show was over. But I was so thrilled for Ali! Even writing about this now is starting to get me all choked up again so I'll just ask you this one final question, how did you like it?

I really liked this one, too. Sooooooo glad for Bernie! For all their competitiveness and blustering, I was glad to see humble, funny, self-deprecating Bernie win over Dan, Mark and Jay.

And nice to see a woman win BL! Ali looked amazing -- actually, they all did really well. I think its easy to look at some and say they didn't drop very much weight, but the BL campus is not a very realistic situation, so for those that had gone home early, overall they did a great job.

I'm suspect about Paul, too. I really do hope he is okay, but I can't help but wonder if there isn't something more. I know he went on that show to get closer to Kelly and that clearly wasn't happening. . . Again, I do hope he is really okay.

For me this was the best possible outcome. I was not too happy when Roger was voted in over Mark (not that I liked Mark, but I thought Roger would have more of a chance of beating the girls), but it worked out best in the end.

Bernie was brilliant, beating out Mark by one pound. Haven't they been saying this is the season of one pound?

When it came down to the final three, I was biting my nails. Roger looked so svelte -- how could he not win? Then he weighed in and lost such a high percentage -- how could he not win? Then Kelly weighed in and didn't really come close to his percentage -- how could he not win? Then Ali weighed in -- whoopie!!!! Unbelievably she won. I was so happy for her.

I was happy for all of them. This was truly a reality show where there were no losers, if you pardon the expression. Everybody came out healthier than they went in, a prize even better than the money.

I thought the finale was great. Ali looks amazing and like she said, she's an athlete now. I've even started to think about my workouts differently now, and how I could step it up to see even greater results. Being an athlete is a mindset, and I think it's imperative to really see the kind of results she did. Of course $250,000 would be a big motivator. LOL.

I loved that Bernie beat out Mark by ONE POUND! Wasn't it one pound that kept Bernie from being able to rejoin the campus, and Mark got the spot instead? I also wondered, percentage-wise, whether Bernie beat Ali -- I don't remember what her percentage of weight loss was compared to his.

I also found it curious about Paul. It seems to me that they would at least do a video segment showing his success and where he is now, but nada. I think he must not have kept the weight loss off, and refused to come back. I hope for his sake that's not the case but it was weird that all we got was, "he's ill and not able to come."

loved the show!
but, technically i think Bernie beat Mark by 2 pounds. He had to lose "more than" and came up one pound less than that ammount when he needed to be 1 pound higher (weight loss wise).

When I first saw people coming out in their fancy dress I thought a lot of people had not worked as hard at home. But once they were in the fitness garb and on the scale you could see they had worked hard. Some just worked harder than others.

And how great was it to see Curtis reach his goal and be able to get insurance (tearing up thinking about it).
This season had lots of those great moments. I was so happy for Roger when he reached his goal of most weight lost on campus.

I liked both people who won last night and so was very happy with the show.

From HD - Mark needed to have lost 130 pounds to beat Bernie. Not more than.

YEA BERNIE!! Sweet revenge that none of "Bob's Boys" won. Thrilled that Mark and Dan didn't win the money. Hooray for Curtis! I wasn't sure if I was seeing the same type of results as in past seasons from those persons who left the ranch early. Like they slacked off. But all were winners just by losing > 10% of their body weight.

I hope Paul is able to mend his broken heart.

Hey, lindabrownssister:

Thanks for pointing out that none of Bob's boys won! I hadn't even thought about that. I usually like Bob, but I was so upset when he got to pick his team and didn't pick Bernie and Brittany. Turns out stacking the deck didn't work for him...

Hola!

Just got back from my vacation in the Dominican Republic....only American channel I got there was ABC :(

The only thing I have watched since getting home was Biggest Loser and I am doing a happy dance. I love that Ali (one of the girls) won. and even happier that Bernie won. He was one of my very favorites and the one he beat Mark was one of my least favorites.

The BooHoo boys didn't win Yippeee!!!

Well gotta go print my 380 pictures I took and unpack so I will be ready to go back to work tomorrow.

Then I can get caught up on Big Brother.

Buenos Noches!
