The Biggest Loser: Six Against One

Picking up from last week's cliffhanger on The Biggest Loser, Alison told the teams that they would have one hour to decide which other team to vote off. She told them to go off and discuss it only with their teammate and to come back and join her in the elimination room at the end of the hour. When the teams were reassembled the votes were: yellow team voted for the black team; blue for black; purple for yellow; black for yellow; gray for purple; orange for purple; and then it was time for the pink team to vote. They said they were voting purely for strategic purposes and chose to vote out the yellow team.

Kelly from the yellow team cried and basically began her goodbye speech when Alison told everybody the shocking news. The yellow team would not be going home right now! For this week only, it would be the other six teams competing against the yellow team both in the challenges and at the weigh-in. How would that work? At the weigh-in, if the yellow's percentage of weight loss was greater than the total percentage of weight loss of the other six teams then they would get to choose the team that would be going home that week. If the yellow team's percentage of weight loss was lower than the other teams combined percentage, then the yellow team would be leaving immediately after the weigh-in. One advantage the yellow team did get though was the ability to choose either Bob or Jillian to train with just them for the entire week. Of course, they chose Jillian so the other teams would be working with Bob.

Later that night, the other six teams were gathered around and talking about what had just happened. They thought they had a pretty good chance and new they would have to work together as one big team this week. Meanwhile, the Paul and Kelly were talking in their room and Kelly was ticked that everybody considered them a threat. Paul thought it was a positive and declared that he was ready to battle. He put on a kung fu shirt he hadn't fit into in ages and made a few karate moves (while NBC played hilarious kung fu sound effects in the background).

The next day, the yellow team met with Alison for being the Team of the Week. They would have the same chance as the orange team did last week at choosing either a Gameplay, Luxury, or Family envelope. Paul told Kelly that he absolutely wanted them to pick the Gameplay envelope while Kelly really wanted to choose Luxury or Family instead. She brought up a compromise in that they would choose Gameplay this time around but next time they would choose Family. He agreed and they opened the Gameplay envelope: take two additional pounds off at the weigh-in of their choice. Well, we know which weigh-in they'll use it at!

Back on campus, the trainers are informed by the other six teams (who are just sitting around outside) about what happened (white voted out and the six against one twist with the yellow team). Jillian felt a little pressure being chosen as yellow's trainer because while working them out so they could win it also meant that she'd be working against the other teams at the same time. When Jillian joined the yellow team upstairs, she told them not to let the anger fuel them and to look long-term at things so that they wouldn't alienate the others. But later, when everybody was in the gym working out, the yellow team didn't tell the other teams which envelope they chose when they were asked.

At this week's all against one challenge, Alison told the now two teams that they would have to cross balance beams that were placed over the pool, grab a peg from the other side, and then cross back over the beam again to put the peg in their team's board. Every player must cross the beam and get at least one peg and the first team that filled their board would win letters from home. Paul started out first for the yellow team and Mark for the other team. Paul smoked him and everybody else in the competition. Actually, Paul went 11 straight times across that beam getting their pegs and Kelly went for the final peg and they won! The yellow team decided to forgo their letters and instead wanted everybody else to get their letters. The yellow team was happy they won and the other team was happy about their letters. Such a happy little place!

While walking and running on the track later, the blue team hatched up a plan to throw the weigh-in so that they could eliminate the black team. They told the purple and orange teams what they wanted to do and all of them decided they would chug a bunch of water right before their weigh-in. Later, after Bob found out his team lost, he told them that the yellow team giving them the letters instead was all gameplay. He told his team that he expects big numbers from them this week and doesn't want to look like an idiot at the weigh-in. If anybody had anything up their sleeve, he wanted them to tell him so that at least he wasn't surprised.

After the sappy "everybody reads their letter" segment, it was time for the weigh-in. Alison announced that the yellow team had decided to use their 2-pound reward at this weigh-in (the others didn't look too happy). Every other team besides the yellow team would weigh first and then the average percentage of weight loss would be determined. The team in that big team that lost the highest percentage would win immunity and not be eligible to be voted out that evening. The yellow looked mighty shocked at that!

The results of the first team's weigh-in was: Bette-Sue and Ali lost a combined 15 pounds (3.43%); Roger and Trent lost 25 pounds (3.48%); Bernie and Brittany lost a scant 9 pounds (2.00%); Jay and Mark lost 24 pounds (4.64%); Maggie and Jenn lost just 10 pounds (2.19%); and Dan and Jackie lost a miniscule 3 pounds (0.62%). Bob was completely shocked at the blue and orange team's weight loss. Mark (black team) realized that there was some gameplay going on and promised there would be consequences for it later. The group's average percentage of weight loss was 2.81%.

Because of the yellow team's 2-pound advantage, they would have to lose 12 pounds combined to win the weigh-in. Paul lost 9 pounds and Kelly lost 8 pounds for a combined total of 17 pounds and 3.39%. That made them the winner and they alone would be choosing a team to go home within the hour.

Paul and Kelly weren't sure what to do because they had wanted to vote out the black team but they had won immunity at the weigh-in for losing the biggest percentage of weight. They eventually narrow it down to either voting out the purple team (because they've been on the bottom of the results for the last couple of weeks) or the pink team (because the pinks voted at the beginning to vote them out). The yellow team decided to go have a talk with the pink and purple teams to help make their decision.

At the elimination ceremony, Kelly did all the talking for the yellow team. She realized she was crushing a dream and on and on and on. Finally, Bette-Sue told her to just state their decision. Paul and Kelly voted for the pink team to go home. Bette-Sue and Ali were both mad about it saying that they're being unjustly sent home. Bette-Sue said that if people are going to play the game then play the game outright and stop being so cowardly about it. The pinks hugged some of the teams (not the yellow) and walked out of the elimination room. Alison then gave the remaining teams a bit of shocking news -- starting next week there would be no more eliminating teams. They would begin single person eliminations instead. Whoa!

Back at home, the pink team said that they are grateful for the show because it has brought them closer together as a mother and daughter. Bette-Sue has lost a total of 49 pounds and Ali has lost a total of 61 pounds. Ali looks really great and said she's been given her life back. Good for her!

In the preview for next week, Alison says that one of them will have to say goodbye to their partner while Jillian is brought to tears.
