Survivor: Going For The Oscar
Ni hao! This week's Survivor was full of action and emotion so let's not waste any time and get right to the meat of the matter.
Picking up where last week left off, the survivors arrived back at camp after voting out James. All of them were shocked that the plan to get rid of James actually succeeded. Todd was especially glad the plan worked out because if it hadn't, James would have been one ticked off dude back at camp.
The next day, it was time for a reward challenge. With one person at one end and the other person at the other end, teams of two would have to work themselves through a maze and reunite with each other at the center platform. Did I mention they would also be blindfolded? Erik is teamed up with his mother! Yes, this challenge brings their loved ones into the mix and all of them are thrilled and very emotional when they meet their loved ones. Amanda is joined by her sister, Peih-Gee with her dad, Courtney with her dad, Denise with her husband (she wants his socks), and Todd with one of his sisters.
As Todd's sister ran to him and hugged him, he asked her how their other sister was. She told him quickly that she had miscarried but that she was doing good. Jeffypop overheard and asked Todd about it. They explained that he found out she was pregnant right before he left to be on the show. Let's get back to the challenge though. The reward would be a boat trip out on the lake with a huge meal and a phone call from back home. After some bumping into people and a possible bloody nose given to Courtney's dad by Todd, Denise and her husband found each other at the center platform and win reward. Denise gets to choose two fellow survivors and their family member to go with them on the boat and they picked Todd and his sister and Amanda and her sister leaving the others to say goodbye to their loved ones and head back to camp. After they leave, Jeff told the reward winners that their loved ones will also get to spend a night with them at camp too!
After the boat ride with mucho food and Denise's phone call from her oldest daughter, it's time to get back to camp. While they'd been gone though, Peih-Gee wondered why Denise didn't choose her and the others made fun of Todd's reaction to the news of his sister's miscarriage. They didn't believe the story and thought they had been "Fairplayed" but with a less than convincing Oscar performance. When Amanda and the others arrived back at camp, they had a little surprise for the others -- chocolate. Unfortunately, it had melted in their hands so if the others wanted some chocolate they would have to lick it off of them. And lick they did! It might have been an arousing scene if everybody wasn't so dirty. Later, while Peih-Gee continued to opine over Denise's decision not to choose her, Todd and Amanda were in the river with their sisters. He said he hoped that people didn't think his story was a lie and he and his sister told Amanda that it was indeed the truth.
On day 32, the boat came to take the loved ones away amidst much hugging and crying (Denise has lost sooo much weight!). Denise went over to Peih-Gee and apologized for not picking her and explained that she picked Amanda because she had been feeling faint at tribal council. Peih-Gee didn't really buy it though but said she appreciated her talking with her.
It was a test of physical and mental strength at the immunity challenge. Each of them were attached to a rope and would have to untangle their way through an obstacle course. At the end of the course were boxes with true/false statements about Chinese inventions. They had to choose the statement that was true, take its key, and then have to take that key back across the obstacle course. If they had answered correctly, that key would open one of three locks on a box. If they were wrong, they would have to go back through the course and get the correct key. The first person to unlock all of the locks on their box and raise their flag would win immunity. Survivors, are you ready?
Todd and Amanda quickly took the lead with Peih-Gee hanging out in third place. As we were treated to more butt blurs from Amanda, Denise and Erik were fumbling around somewhere on the course and weren't even a threat. Amanda's key didn't fit her second lock so she had to go back. Todd was trying to open his third lock as Peih-Gee gained a spot and picked up her third key. Unfortunately for Todd, he had the wrong key. As he went back to get the correct key, Peih-Gee opened her third lock and raised her flag. Peih-Gee wins immunity! She was happy but exhausted. Actually, they were all exhausted. It looked like a tough challenge.
The next day, Peih-Gee still couldn't believe she had won immunity again calling it one of the proudest moments in her life while crying. Meanwhile, Denise was being approached from both sides of the camp. Todd tells her he hoped it would be apparent that she would vote out Erik. Peih-Gee wants Denise to make a power play and vote out Todd. Does she want to be fourth place in a team of four or have a shot at the final three?
At tribal council, with a still ticked James on the jury, Denise explained how she hopes she might get a sympathy vote in the end but that she's scared and hoped that this night is the night she can trust people. When Denise voted, she said that she was sorry she had to do this and that it would probably be her biggest mistake in the game. Let's tally those votes Jeff and find out what Denise did. The votes: Erik, Todd, Todd, Erik, Erik, and Erik. Erik is the 11th person voted out of Survivor and the 5th member of the jury. Peih-Gee looked utterly dejected that Denise voted the way she did. I really hope Denise didn't make a mistake and just hand Todd the game.
Next week, Amanda targets Todd but Todd fights back and as alliances crumble, no one is safe. Sounds interesting! In Erik's final words, he said that he wanted to win but that today was his day to go. He said he was mentally and physically exhausted but that he was proud of himself and he really wants to see who of the remaining five would come out on top.
What did you think about this episode? Do you think Denise made a mistake in voting out Erik over Todd? How do you think Peih-Gee must be feeling? That girl's going to have to bust her butt in challenges from here on out!

Yeah, Denise made a mistake if she is counting on the tender mercies of Todd, Courtney, and Amanda to take her to the end. In spite of her lucky reward win, she generally sucks at challenges, and she is in terrible physical condition for a so-called martial artist. What type of individual stands the best chance to win? A sneaky, lying, conniving little weasel--that's who. In other words, Todd.
They are a bunch of fools. They just handed it to Todd.
Meanwhile, I just want to remind everyone that today is the 66th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I've been on the phone a good portion of the morning reminding a number of major corporations here in downtown Charlotte that they shoudl have their flags at half staff.
It raises the question: Will everyone forget 9/11 sixty five years from now?

I forgot my plea. Can somebody please tell me what is the problem with Amanda's butt? It looks like it should be a splendid behind to me, so what is the problem? Remember the "SOS" challenge in Survivor Africa? Some older woman was stripped down to a thong, and her full buttage, with no blurring pixelization, was on full display for all of TV-land to enjoy. I still have fond memories of that butt.
Denise just messed up big time, I do not want to see Todd win this but I want to see courtney win even less, she really gets on my nerves. I don't think the thing with Todd and his sister was made up, I really hope not but I also don't think the things Courtney said were very nice. I don't understand about her Dad, if he did not want to participate why did he come, I was afraid he was going to break her when he huged her. The parts with Denise and her husband were sweet they look like a very good couple. James still looked pissed which he should be mad at himself for being so stupid.I would like to see Denise win even though I know she wont but as long as it is not Courtney I will be happy.
I agree that it appears right now that Denise made a huge mistake in voting out Erik.
Even if he is from my hometow, he is a wimpny player and she might have had more of a chance of winning against him than Todd.
I will be really upset if Courtney wins! Not that I like Todd, Amanda, or Pei Gee all that much, but they are way better than Courtney. She is a poor player and a poor sport, IMO.
On another note...how stinky are they? Do they not get to bring deodorant? I guess not...I remember one reward challenge where they got soap and TP.
I am not sure that I want a million dollars that badly. I think I'll keep wearing dedorant, keep using TP, and keep selling real estate and hope that does the trick!
Denise thinks she made the right decision. Based on what they tell her. Of course we see the otherside and now she screwed herself. I would love for her to win. Its time for a woman to win again and she would be perfect and deserving ! As for what "GRAY" said about Denise- Martial Arts is about alot more than PHYSICAL CONDITION. Not everyone looks like Amanda or Courtney- THANK GOD. Denise is a perfect example of most of the real women in the real worl. Hard working moms who dont have time for vanity. She knows whats important. She has a husband that loves her and a great Family.and a big heart. GO DENISE .. all the way !!
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT NIGHT THE FINALE IS SCHEDULED FOR??
BBUG, the Survivor two-hour finale is scheduled to air on Sunday, December 16th at 8:00 PM ET. Right after the finale will be the reunion show at 10:00 PM ET.
Martial Arts is about alot more than PHYSICAL CONDITION.
BBUG, are you kidding me? If you are a fat, slow, weak, out-of-condition slob, then don't call yourself a martial artist. mmmmkay? She may be the sweetest person in the world for all I know, but who in hell would be "instructed" by the likes of her for martial arts training?
It seems to me Denise is going to be the Odd man out either way. So sticking to original alliance was a ok idea. Plus she is now the biggest physical threat in the game. I dont think its going to help her but I think she made the right vote.
As much as I would love to see Denise win as well, I think she just sealed her own fate. Todd will do his best to get rid of her...he simply can't be trusted. I can't stand Courtney!!! As much as I don't like Todd, I'd love to see her be the next one voted off!!! I'm tired of the skeleton look with her! And I didn't understand why her dad was there either...I mean, they had to know that they were going to participate in a challenge since that's always how it goes! And what was with the stupid bird calls between Amanda and her sister!!! Geez...I wanted to tell them to put a plug in it! Were they trying to keep the others from hearing their partners? It didn't work!
As for the "butt-blurs" with Amanda, I'm so over them! It's too bad someone can't give her something else to wear so that we don't have to see it all the time. Although, I did notice later on she was wearing something wrapped around her waist that covered her up!
BBug...I agree with the comments you made here about Denise and her being a true representation of women and what a real woman looks like! A woman who is married, works and has kids doesn't always have the time for vanity. Maybe that's why I'd really like to see her win...I can relate to her! (Even though I'm not married with kids!)
And I agree that James only has himself to be angry with! He could have pulled out one of the II's if he had been smart! I liked him...I wanted to see him win...but that was just a stupid move on his part.
Next week will be interesting with everything coming down to the wire...who will stab who in the back? How bad will the alliances fall apart? As Bette Davis said, "It's going to be a bumpy ride"!!!
someone compared the lack of but blurring in Survivor Africa to the But blurring that is going on now.
I believe it's because Survivor Africa was before the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction incident.
Unlike most people here, I don't think Denise made such a bad decision. If she had voted for Todd and forced a tie, it could still have gone either way. If Erik had lost the tiebreaker and Todd stayed, Todd would likely have been pissed and manoeuvered to vote out Denise next ahead of PG. This way it looks like she is guaranteed at least 4th place and then who knows, she might win immunity and find herself in the final three. That's the great thing about Survivor -- the best laid plans can go awry. We'll find out a week from Sunday.
I liked both challenges this week, but the IC looked very difficult. They all looked exhausted. It was nice to see Denise and her husband win the RC. And she certainly took the right two with her -- at this point, if I were Denise, I wouldn't want to let the scheming Todd and Amanda out of my sight for a second!
As for the blurs. I thought I read somewhere it might be a tatoo of a product they are not advertising. Maybe?
Big mistake Denise!! Courtney and Todd should have been long gone. What is this power that Todd has over them?? Don't Denise even see how Todd lied to James (they all lied to James). James, JR and Frosti are proof enough that no one can be trusted.
Like him or not, Todd does kind of deserve to win.
He definitely is outwitting them.
I agree with all of you in not understanding why Courtney is still around.
She brings absolutely nothing to the table.
I don't think Amanda can win. Something about her just does not seem like shes strong enough to go to the end.
If Todd wind up getting voted out soon, she won't last.
Denise has the nice card, and the She needs the money card.
PG has the underdog card and if she stays til the end she has some good allies on the jury.
Denise didn't make a mistake. If she had voted for Todd, it would have been a tie. She would have made herself a big target if he didn't lose the tiebreaker. Even if he lost the tiebreaker, she would have no chance with the jury. Her original alliance would be mad at her, and the other Tiger members would vote for her opponent as well. Her best bet is to make her move with someone else from her alliance. If she could get Courtney on her side, she'd even have a shot with the jury. After all, if you were on the jury, and had to pick between Denise, Courtney and PG, who would you pick? I think that if Amanda or Todd make the final 3, they have a very good chance of winning it. If only one of them makes it, they have a clear field.
The only reason I can think of that Courtney is still around is that they all want to go to the final 3 with her because they figure that everyone either hates her or thinks she is totally useless.
