Reality In Review: Week Of November 25, 2007

Were you busy playing with cats, looking at owls, or locating your TV? Same here! Let's have a looky at the happenings of last week together then.

You may not consider Evel Knievel's death related to reality TV but let me tell you, it is for me. I am just a mere thirtysomething but I fondly recall memories of my youth sitting around the TV with my family being glued to Evel's stunt specials that would air on television. Jumping fountains or jumping buses on his motorcycle was super cool to my brothers and I. Hell, he could have been jumping over containers of mustard and we would have watched. The best part was pretending to be like him on our bikes out in the backyard. We even once tried "the explosion" at the end like he would do and let's just say our mother wasn't too thrilled. He was a god to most kids our ages back then so Evel, may you rest in peace. Thanks for the memories.

OK, back to the reality TV news you're really expecting. ABC hit it big in the ratings last week with Dancing With The Stars. Not since American Idol's finale back in 2002 has a summer show had such high ratings. Obviously, many of us were watching as Helio & Julianne were awarded the mirror ball trophy in what some deemed an upset over Mel & Maks. Not shortly after the show finished airing, news came out that Helio & and his fiancee broke off their engagement. Of course, that added fuel to the fire about his and Julianne's relationship. I don't know if they have that kind of relationship or not, but I think they make a cute couple myself. Perhaps they could find some more time for dancing in between his racing and her singing.

Linda Hogan wants $4.5 million and alimony in her divorce from Hulk Hogan. The Hulkster has responded back saying that she can support herself and doesn't need his money. This could be quite the salacious celebrity divorce case to follow. It probably doesn't help Hulk though that there are now reports that he was seen buying five cases of beer with his son Nick on the day of his crash. Not good indeed. I wonder if he'd have to pay child support if Nick went to jail.

My coffee's getting cold already so let's wrap up things up. Sarah Jessica Parker was amazed at all of the production involved on Project Runway; Twiggy won't be returning in next season's America's Next Top Model; and Brad was disappointed that he didn't find love on The Bachelor. Jason & Lorena believe the blondes were confused when they used their U-Turn on The Amazing Race; Heather from ANTM wanted to be a role model; and more details emerged about the fight between TB's Byron and Mary.

Florence Henderson might be on the next DWTS; AI's Jessica Sierra was jailed again; and Tila Tequila is a fake bisexual. Apprentice Africa is now casting; NBC announced their reality TV lineup beginning in January; and don't count on a spring Big Brother just yet. And is the state of American reality television really this bleak?
