Survivor: Ready To Bite The Apple

| | Comments (13)

Ni hao! This week's Survivor picked up where it left off two weeks ago -- at tribal council right after Frosti's exit on night 27. Jeff had told them they wouldn't be going back to camp just yet and we were left hanging. It turned out to be no big deal. They were sticking around tribal council because they were going to have a reward challenge.

The winner of a Chinese culture pop quiz would be able to choose two other Hae Da Fung tribemates to go with them on an overnight trip to the Shaolin Temple in Song Shan. They would travel the hundreds of miles to the temple by private jet where they would be treated to a kung fu demonstration and a vegetarian meal. All of them were super excited but James seemed to be the most excited. Unfortunately for James, Peih-Gee won the challenge and chose Erik and Denise to go with her. Back to camp for you James!

The next morning (day 28), James woke the three up when their boat arrived to pick them up. Denise was excited to go but was concerned about the talking that might go on in camp while she was gone. After they left, the four left behind made plans to eat alot and talked about making themselves the final four. Amanda, however, told us that she didn't really want to go to the end with them (James, Todd, and Courtney) and wanted to make something happen on her own.

Meanwhile, Erik and Denise were listening to Peih-Gee's plans on the jet. She wanted them to be the final three and possibly bring in James if they needed to. After arriving at the 1500-year-old temple, they watched a kung fu demonstration that was very cool indeed. Some kids came out afterwards to teach them some kung fu moves of their own. Denise was on cloud nine because she happened to be a karate student herself (she began eight years prior when she was 32 years of age). She even gave her own demonstration before they went to dinner and fell asleep. It was very thrilling as a viewer to see a cast member appreciate a trip like that and I couldn't help but to want to root for Denise even more now.

It's a rainy and miserable 29 back at the Hae Da Fung camp. The four are huddled in a cave trying to escape the wetness when Peih-Gee, Erik, and Denise arrive back from their trip. The only one that came out to meet them was Amanda which didn't surprise Denise at all since Peih-Gee and Erik aren't exactly liked at camp. That made it even funnier though when Peih-Gee invaded the cave telling Courtney and James everything about the reward. That is Courtney's cave dammit! Todd was able to pull Denise aside though and tell her that everything is A-OK at camp and not to worry about anything.

On day 30, Amanda asked Courtney to take a walk and they went off and checked for tree mail. They were provided some Chinese stars and told to practice. Not concerned too much with that, Amanda told Courtney about a plan to get rid of James that evening at tribal council. She said he needed to be felt safe that he wouldn't be voted out. Hopefully he wouldn't use an immunity idol and they would be able to blindside him by voting him out. Of course, he can't win immunity though because that would throw a kink in the plan.

The immunity challenge consisted of two rounds of throwing Chinese stars at a series of targets worth different amounts of points. The three people with the highest score at the end of the first round using only three stars to throw, would move to the second round where they would only have one star to throw. The person with the highest score in the second round would win immunity. In the first round, Peih-Gee did embarassingly bad and was the only one not to score any points. Erik, Courtney, James, and Amanda all tied for the most points (six) so instead of three there would be four in the next round. In the sudden death round, Erik's three points beat out Amanda's two so he became the new wearer of the immunity idol necklace.

Back at camp, James began to work on getting Peih-Gee voted out while the plan of blindsiding James made it from person to person. Peih-Gee was freaking out though and worried that she'd be the one going so when she found a hidden immunity idol hidden in the bamboo canopy of their shelter, she had to go talk to Amanda about it. Amanda told her that she knew that James had the immunity idol. I couldn't believe Peih-Gee still had no clue! Anyway, Amanda told Peih-Gee to just chill out and to not talk to James. She told Peih-Gee to act like she was going home if she knew what was good for her. I'm surprised Amanda didn't just come out and say, "shut the hell up bitch and listen to me." Talking to Peih-Gee seemed to be like talking to a brick wall. Meanwhile, James told us that he would definitely be bringing the immunity idols with him to tribal council. Whew!

At tribal council, Jeff asked the obligatory questions about the reward challenge and then James and Peih-Gee kinda butted heads a few questions later. The only person who said they felt safe in not going home that night was Erik. I can only imagine why! Hahaha! Peih-Gee voted for Todd, James voted for Peih-Gee, and Todd voted for James: the rest they didn't show. After the voting, Jeff asked them if anybody was going to use a hidden immunity idol and, come on James, do it! Damn. James chose to stay quiet and not use it. You stupid stupid man! Of course, James was voted out by a vote of 4-1-1 and he looked pissed about it too. Ah well, I knew James winning would be too good to be true. Did you catch Jean-Robert, Peih-Gee, Erik, and the others laughing at his stupid decision? If you were them, it had to have been funny!

With that, Jeff told them to head back to camp for there were only 9 days left in the game. In James' final words, he said he was disappointed in himself and that he'd caught a feeling that something was up but decided not to play the idols anyway. He said that trying to hold those fruit loops together the whole damned time was killing him and that he's not angry with anybody -- it's just a game. That's a good attitude to have!

Next week the tribe is overwhelmed with emotion, Amanda turns on her closest ally (Todd), and everyone's fate is in the hands of Denise (she's a swing vote at tribal council).

So what did you think about this week's Survivor? Do you think Peih-Gee made the right decision in taking Erik and Denise with her to the Shaolin Temple? And of course, what are your thoughts on James' not using an immunity idol? If your favorite had been James up to now (like myself), who are you rooting for to win now?

OH JAMES you made me so sad last night !!! I was yelling at the TV, wanting to change the channel, but its like when you cant turn your head from a horrific accident.... ok I know, its only survivor. But I was so sad !!
My second is Denise, Eric, Amanda - in that order. I felt for Denise last night. What a great time she had at the reward !! I think she voted for James, knowing she had no choice, but I think she really tried to warn him " you cant trust anyone" (wink wink James !!) He got it, but not enough. UGH! Unfortunetly I think they are going to turn on her next. I think the "Denise is a swing vote" is TRICK!! She thinks shes the swing vote, because Amanda and Courtney and Todd are such good liars. They are setting her up? what do you think .

you think James will get picked for ALL STARS? Rumor has it that will be the next season??

I totally remembered the red envelope = money thing from "Multicultural Day" in high school.

I'm not sure PG made the best strategic move for who to take with her. She basically left behind those that were the closest together. Maybe she should have tried taking Amanda? Though since Amanda finds her annoying, this probably would have backfired, but she wouldn't have known that.

It was cute to see PG and Todd grin like school girls to see the plan to rid James work out. It was also funny to see the jury's reaction.

Amanda was making the right move, but it was risky since she knew Todd would be probably would be gone if James played the idol. Then, Todd would be angry with her as well as James and she would have lost two votes easily.

I'm really impressed with Denise. She's made it pretty far for being "older" and not good at challenges.

I still like Erik, but he's not a strong player. Winning immunity definitely helps him. I also like Amanda and Todd and they definitely seem to be playing the game well.

Getting rid of James was the smart play. Too bad he didn't pull the idols out of his bag and thow them into the fire like Jiffy Pop did with the thing what's-her-name thought was an idol.

In regards to the Shaolin Temple, that was a very cool prize. Too bad there aren't many 1500-year-old temples in Tibet to visit anymore.

Though I did like James, it makes the show more exciting that he is gone, even with 2 Immunity Idols.
He was stupid not to use them.
He should realize that hes a huge target with 2 idols, and should never trust that he would be safe, when everyone knows he has the idols.

They should have done this 2 weeks ago when they switched to John Robert, never thought they would get another opportunity to blindside James.

I think I am rooting for Erik, but there is not a chance.

He is a good player who unfortunately got aligned with the losing tribe.
I like PG, but I cannot see her winning bc nobody likes her.
She could be the one though, who ppl want to go up against in final 2.....

I knew James was going when Jeff asked if anyone wanted to use an II at 5 minutes before ending time. If James had used the II they would have had to start earlier in the show since there would have been a tie breaker most likely and that takes time. Oh well, my fav James is gone but he was stupid to not follow his gut feeling and use the II.

I have to now become a fan of Amanda although I don't like her. She is the strategist and the string puller of this game and if she gets to the final 3 she deserves to win.

I'd like Denise to win but I don't think she has any chance of getting to final 3.

The one I don't want to see win is Courtney.

I really like Amanda. She's been the force in the background for awhile. She's the one who's kept Courtney in line all along. I really like Todd and Denise as well. Todd has made some stupid moves in the game, but he's been real entertaining. Denise is an underdog, but I really like her.

I liked James, but the strongest, hardest working player (almost) never wins. And I think he was foolish not to play the idol -- he tempted fate (and his alliance) one too many times. Also I think he got a really good edit....

I like Todd. He's an evil weasel but he and Amanda make a great team. For likeability and underdog status, I like Denise. I would like to see them be the final three.

How can Denise be the swing vote next week? Doesn't there have to be an odd number for someone to be the swing vote. According to my count, there are six people left.

I loved James at first, but his attitude the last few weeks has become a bit annoying. But I can't believe he didn't use the HII! (Not quite in Marcellas' league, but not too far behind!)

I think Amanda's playing a good game so she has my strategy vote. Denise has my good-hearted vote, Erik has my cutie-pie vote, PG has my "I can't believe you're still here" vote and Todd has my entertainment value vote. Courtney just can go to her no talking cave and sink into the mud.

ARRRGH!

Well now that my favorite (Dumbo) is out, I have to rethink who I'd like to win. They're showing more of Denise now and she's different but in an interesting kind of way, so I like her. Amanda hasn't really done anything to make me like or dislike her. In the very beginning I liked Todd but his smug grinning at tribal is starting to grate on me. Courtney is disturbing to look at with all her bones showing, but she was funny last night--I wanted to see a girl-fight between her and PG!

Oh James...what were you thinking? Unlike Aaron who was simply the victim of unfortunate circumstances, James has only himself to blame for getting booted. I did think he took it rather well though. Even if the others are really good liars, he should have played one of the dang idols to be safe. What's he gonna do with them now, sell 'em on EBAY? Hey, that's not a bad idea--I wonder if their contract prohibits them from selling memorabilia (does anyone know?).

Does anyone know if James took both idols with him? Or are they back at camp?

Well, since james is gone, I guess I'm going to root for Denise. Though I think she might be one of the next to go.

I was the Courtney hater, but I am getting a little uneasy about that seeing as how she is still in the game at this late stage. I am remembering how much I hated Daniele and Dick from Big Brother and how I had to endure their win. Is there some perversity in the universe that ensures a win for some scumbag on a reality show whom I cannot stand? I can't take the chance of that being true, so I must force myself to love that damn Courtney.

I was DEVASTATED that James didn't use one of his idols last night. He was my favorite, and I'm just really upset that he didn't go with his gut and use one. I'm not sure who my pick will be now. Todd, who is kind of a jerk, is actually growing on me a bit.
