Reality In Review: Week Of November 18, 2007

| | Comments (3)

Welcome back my reality television lovers! I hope all of you had a fantastic and safe Thanksgiving holiday. I know things were probably hectic for you last week with all of the cooking, eating, and shopping many of you were doing so you might not have been able to stay caught up with the reality TV goings on. It's OK. I'll get you up-to-date.

How would you like to have found out your spouse was filing for divorce through a reporter? That's exactly how Hulk Hogan found out this last week. Hulk's wife, Linda, filed for divorce on Tuesday. Hulk was contacted on Friday night night by a reporter to get his reaction to the filing and he definitely got a reaction. From the article linked above in the St. Petersburg Times:

"I'm kind of shocked," he said. "You caught me off-guard. My wife has been in California for about three weeks. ... Holy smokes. Wow, you just knocked the bottom out of me. ... I just pulled over to the side of the road for five minutes to find out what was going on here."

Now we all know that their family hasn't exactly had an easy time of things lately. Their son, Nick, was allegedly responsible for a horrible automobile crash that has left his passenger needing probable nursing home care for the rest of his life. Just this last week, they found out that Nick's drivers license will be suspended for one year beginning on December 10. Things have been really tough for them lately. But to find out through the press that your wife is leaving you after 23 years? I think that's pretty cowardly on Linda's part.

The other big news of the week was that nothing happened on The Bachelor finale. Brad didn't give Jenni or DeAnna a ring. He didn't say he needed more time before he was sure. Hell, he didn't even say he wanted to hop in the sack with one of them one more time. He rejected both of them after leading them on; right up to the very last second. Some people give him credit for being so brave. The producers certainly didn't like the ending. Brad has even said he was uncomfortable with the scrutiny. Well hello there Mr. Blue Eyes! You're on a freaking reality TV show. Everything you do and say will be gone over with a fine-toothed comb.

Luckily for Jenni (I guess), she's gone back to the loving arms of her ex-boyfriend. Deanna, on the other hand, seems to have had a harder time dealing with things. She's still confused as to what actually happened and if you read that interview, I think she would run away with him if he asked her to. In just a couple more Bachelor tidbits, more people watched the reunion than watched the finale and Brad was in constant contact with his baby's mama during filming. Interesting indeed.

Because this last week's Survivor was a recap show, there was no interview from a casted off castaway but there were plenty of other interviews to be had for the week. Marion Lee, the second person "out" of Project Runway had plenty to say about the $15 challenge. I was just glad to read that there was another person on this planet not in love with Sarah Jessica Parker. I was really beginning to get a complex. Jennie Garth wasn't exactly surprised to be the next celeb booted from Dancing With The Stars. She was thrilled to have the experience but knew that because of Marie's fan base it would be hard to keep advancing. Marianna and Julia (pretend I'm saying it like Phil), the third team eliminated from The Amazing Race, dished a little on their camel and touched on some disappearing road maps. Jennifer and William, the latest pair exiting Beauty and the Geek, talked about how they didn't get along with each other most of the time and Lisa touched on how her fear of falling caused her to fall from Tyra's graces.

I'm hungry and in great need of a sandwich made with wonderful turkey leftovers so let's finish things up. Trista (as in Trista and Ryan and The Bachelorette) gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Maxwell. Not long after, he was introduced to the world on Mom Logic. Remember Mary and Byron from The Bachelor back in season three? She was arrested for domestic assault against him last week and, yes, alcohol was involved. Check out those bags underneath her eyes! American Idol alums Carrie Underwood and Daughtry cleaned up at the AMAs while former AI finalist Jessica Sierra is cleaning up (hopefully). Also AI-related, runner-up Blake Lewis has invented a new style of music called 2080. Don't ask me.

Wayne Newton was cleared to dance in the DWTS tour while Donny Osmond's name has popped up as a possible celebrity for a season of the popular celeb-dancing show. Scott Baio became a daddy five weeks early; Mel B was confused; and Heather Mills is a hypocrite. Two more arrests were made in the assault against Top Chef's Josie; the entire cast of The Celebrity Apprentice was announced; and if you want to find out what Survivor: Exile Island winner Aras has been up to, you should definitely click here. What do you think about this list of the Top 7 Hottest Reality TV stars? Tila Tequila must really love chocolate and Heidi Klum loses her mind while loving her boobs (no nudity there but be careful nonetheless). Do you want to see a preview? I said, do you want to see a preview? I won't tell you what the show is but you have to watch this video.

Enjoy your ham and turkey leftovers and I'll catch ya back here next week. But before you go, check out my friend Rick. Adios amigos!

Every time I hear anything about Trista Rehn I just want to scream "You're fifteen minutes are OVER!"

A sentiment I thought was shared by many people when she was the first voted out of season one of DWTS.

This week had a good episode of Kid Nation. I'm sorry that show will be wrapping up soon. From what I'm hearing one of the kids will end-up getting a SIX figure prize at the end.

I am over Trista and Ryan.

The only reason why ABS invited them on the after show is to show that some couples actually last.

Hilarious that the only other couple that is still together is Mary and Byron, and then 2 days later the story hit that she was arrested for battery to him.

Poor DeAna.
This Brad guy was played up to be the nicest more geniune bachelor.
One can look at it, that he was geniune in that he did not lead them on and stay with DeAna now, only to break up later.

But really, dont you think Brad overdid it?

Usually when someone is not into you, you kind of get the vibe.

Funny how 2 girls had absolutely no idea on that vibe.

He didnt have to lay it on so thick.
If he wasnst feeling it, thats fine.
He did the right thing by being honest.

But his actions were really misleading.

And then to (still) tell DeAna that he thinks about her everyday....
but he still wants to not be with her.

Its like why give the girl that little glimmer of hope?
Does he have an insecurity complex that maybe he needs to have the girls wanting him, even though he does not want them?

Really was disappointed in how he played it to the girls.

Not bc he didnt choose bc you shouldnt have to choose if you are not in love, but then dont act like you are in love if you plan to leave the person.

I don't think Hulk Hogan should have been so surprised by his wife filing for divorse since they have been separated since June and living apart. They even shot parts of their show while separated and the tension between the two of them on screen could have been cut with a knife. Hopefully things will settle down a bit now and her son can grow up and accept responsibility for what he's done, her daughter can learn to be a bit more of a lady rather than a tramp, and her husband can stop being such a jerk. Good luck to her.
