Dancing With The Stars: We're Gonna Miss Ya
This week's Dancing With The Stars results show was pretty good. It would have been better if somebody other than Avril had performed but what are you gonna do?
After a recap of Tuesday night's show, the judges said they wanted to see Jennie & Derek out on the floor for the encore dance. They danced their cha-cha-cha to "Mustang Sally" and did just as good as they did the night before bringing the house down with a standing ovation.
Avril Lavigne was next in the lineup and sang "Hot". It was a good performance I guess. Avril's not exactly my cup of tea but I know many people like her. I guess she has to perform somewhere since late night television is out of the question.
Marie & Jonathan are safe. Honestly, who didn't see that one coming? I'm to the point where it doesn't even phase me anymore when I hear that they're safe. You realize they told us that towards the beginning of the show so that the viewers keep watching right?
Kenny Mayne's segment was definitely one of the best of the night. He was in a hilarious "dancing rehab" with Lisa Rinna, Harry Hamlin, Laila Ali, and Tucker Carlson. In a group meeting, they admitted they couldn't stop dancing and their loved ones were behind their stints in rehab. Laila confessed to breaking out into the paso doble in the grocery store and Harry said he wished he could even do the paso. Lisa said she was addicted to the tanning aspect of being on the show. It was hilarious!
Michael Flatley, currently touring with his show Celtic Tiger, was the final Macy's star performance of the season. And talk about wow. The tap-dancing routine he and his dancers performed was jaw-dropping amazing. Too bad that couldn't have been a thirty minute segment.
Sabrina & Mark, eliminated three weeks ago, danced to Avril's "Complicated". I could have cared less about Avril's performance but Sabrina and Mark's? I had been waiting on their dancing again ever since last week. They definitely did not disappoint. It was a wonderfully crisp but tender (that makes them sound like chicken) routine and all of the lifts were amazing! She even did a side flip!
Finally, it's time to find out who will be leaving the show. It will be either Jennie & Derek, Mel & Maks, or Helio & Julianne. Mel & Maks are safe! Whew! After another commercial and remarks from the judges (Len even said that the worst couple wasn't standing before him), Tom announced that it would be Jennie & Derek leaving this week. Yay! Helio & Julianne are safe!
Jennie said she'd gained more confidence in performing and couldn't believe she got this far. Their montage was really cute and brought Jennie to tears while watching it. I'm going to miss her but somebody had to go. Unfortunately it wasn't Marie leaving but we know how that cookie crumbles.
In next week's finale dance show, the three remaining pairs will dance their first routine to what the judges assign to them and their second dance will be a free-style where the rules are thrown out the window. I bet we see some lifts next week!
What do you think about Jennie being eliminated this week? Who do you want to win?

OK, here's a question: Is there some sort of mutation in the Osmond gene pool that causes them, especially Marie, to have like sixty teeth? That chick's got one toothy smile. When she smiles she shows more teeth than Giada de Laurentis, which I would not have thought possible. Giada... too bad she's married to a complete tool.
Anyway, yes I did notice and laugh when Len made the comment that 'the worst is not in front of me.' Do we think Len is pissed that Marie got through again?
I'm really glad that we got to know Jennie Garth as the mature 35-year-old she is as a real person. This will help me NOT automatically think of her as Kelly from 90210. Too bad 'What I like about you' got lost/cancelled in the whole WB/UPN/CW fiasco. I hope we continue to see more of her.
I really like the song "complicated" but if you had asked me before last night who sings it I could not have told you. I don't follow pop music that much.
Michael Flatley: I'm over it. As a person who has participated in military drill teams and marching bands, I can appreciate the difficulty level and the practice needed to pull-off what Flatley and his minions did last night, but I am over him personally. I don't know how to describe it really. I guess he's just a little too 'shiny' for me. Another thing I will say is when little girls do Irish step dancing it's very cute. When a fifty-year-old-guy who is hetero but acts like he is gay does it then it becomes just plain creepy.
At least my philly is still in the race: I am without a doubt a Julianne fan. Yea, yea I know that I'm technically rooting for Helio, who seems to be a perfectly swell guy, but Julianne is the BOMB. Shit, they could pair Julianne with Kim Jong-il and I'd still root for her.
Speaking of Julianne, if she and Helio win it this year, do we think that will help or hurt her chances of her being on again next year. On the one hand, the producers don't want it to become the Julianne show, but she has to be helping with the male 18-26 ratings.
I said it yesterday and I'll say it again today: Julianne... Julianne... ah to be fifteen years younger. (Said thing is I'd still be older than her.)
First off... the important stuff. I loved Kenny Mayne's skit. He is too funny and obviously he must write his own material which is getting rare with comedians these days. I hope we get to see much much more of him.
I hated to see Jenny go. I have no dislike for Marie but she really does not deserve to be there anymore. I hope Jenny understands how well she really did and how much we all like her and admire the work she put into this show. I never saw her on 90210 but I really like her. She's a lady and a really authentic person.
Since Jenny is gone I have to choose Helio to win since I don't think it is fair for Mel to win since she is not an amateur dancer and Marie is not a good dancer so she shouldn't win. But I fear that Mel has it locked up unless the Marie voters manage to continue their rediculous support and pull off an inauthentic win for her.
Could have done without the Singer they had this week. Could have done without Marie sailing through again on her fan base's coat tails.
Could have done with a lot more Kenny - what a stitch. And having the mock interviews while they were in rehab. Can't remember who mentioned his shirt while he was trying to say they all need to let go of the dancing. It was funny start to finish.
Michael Flatley dance group and routine were fabulous. Such precision for all those people to be in sinc! Wow!
Chuckled big time at Len's comment about how the dancers left were not the worst dancers left.
Bottom Line, now that Jennie is gone... Marie is just not as good as the other two... Mel - too much professional experience... So I would like to see Helio win. It would be the best outcome, because they are supposed to be out of their element and not have any dancing experience. And frankly, Helio is so good and his happiness is infectious -- It would be a good outcome.
I am sick of listening to Donny O hawking his sister on Entertainment Tonight. Talk about an unfair advantage for Marie with the fan base.
Well, need to head out - want to watch Kid Nation and need to get some things done for Thanksgiving Dinner. One of the things I am thankful for this year is HD and her Silly Reality site. :) Hope everyone has a great Holiday!
EricC, you are too funny! I hope a lot of people think like you and vote for Julianne (ahem, I mean, Helio) because I would like to see him win.
As a proud Canadian, I am forced to like Avril Lavigne. But, nationality aside, I actually think she did a great job.
Michael Flatley, meet Joan Rivers. I've never looked at his face before (just his feet), but it was so tight, it scared me. Mommy, make the bad man go away!
Sabrina did not need the boy shorts under her dress to draw attention to her thighs -- they speak for themselves.
Finally, I am hoping the big-teeth haters and professional-dancer haters band together next week and vote for non-professional, perfectly-normal-teeth race car drivers and that Helio wins.
OK, I know I am in a very small minority on this issue but, I love watching Marie dance. I think she is great. She looks like she has lost 30 lbs since the start, she always seems to enjoy what she is doing and she seems more real to me than the other competitors. When I watch her dance I can imagine that I too might possibly (with a ton of hard work) be able to dance. This isn't "Dancing with the professionals", it is meant to show that real people can learn to dance and I think Marie embodies that. I've seen a lot of times in the dances where for what ever reason they have chossen to take the easy route and that does bother me, especially after I've seen her perform harder bits. I have to wonder if her partner doesn't need to have more guts. Unlike many stars who have had shake your head staying power (Jerry Springer to name just one), Marie actually entertains.
I also really don't like watching Helio dance. I don't know what it is but he creeps me out. I keep seeing Howdy Doody. I think it is the mouth thing he does - he drops it open with this vacent smiley face thing and looks like a puppet. I'm sure it's just me but sometimes I imagine strings when he makes a slightly jerky leg movement. I know he is doing a good job but I just can't get past that creepy smile thing.
Mel has been just amazing for the last few dances. I can definatly see that her partner is having a great time.
