Dancing With The Stars: The End Has Come

I don't know about you but I was absolutely thrilled with the Dancing With The Stars finale last night. I really don't know how much better it could have been. Well, I guess it could have been shortened by 30 minutes but overall it was a really fun show. Things were really light-hearted and you could tell that everybody was having a great time.

Celine Dion was the star performer of the evening and, while I can't say she's ever been a favorite of mine, I really enjoyed her performances. The first song she sang was the Titanic classic, "My Heart Will Go On". She sounded perfect and the pros that were dancing to it were phenomenal. The second song she sang towards the end of the show was "Taking Chances". You know, I've heard that song on the radio and never knew it was her that sang it. I think I'm going to have to download it now.

One of the best moments of the night had to have been when it was announced that Marie & Jonathan finished in third place. It was about freaking time! I think my neighbors probably heard me when I hollered out with excitement. When they showed Marie's "looking back" video, I really noticed how much weight she's lost. She looks fantastic! Well, not that she didn't before but you know what I mean. It was funny though when Samantha had asked her about her experience on the show and then cut her off.

Other than the Celine performances and the Marie & Jonathan announcement, the show was filled with highlight (and lowlight) clips of the season and dances by (most of) the pairs that had been voted off before this week. Josie & Alec's dance was kinda sloppy and boring; Albert & Anna did their cute little Elvis dance; Mark Cuban & Kym looked like they had a blast with their dance; Sabrina & Mark's dance was super sexy and very hot (and talk about a standing ovation!); Jane & Tony did a pretty but snoozer of a Viennese waltz; Cameron & Edyta did their Superman routine (and he took his shirt off!!!); and Jennie & Derek did their cool mambo. The only two couples that didn't dance were Wayne & Cheryl and Floyd & Karina. Wayne said he had another two weeks before he could dance again but that he would be on the tour (which we knew already) and Floyd didn't dance because he's been in training for his upcoming boxing match. What was up with Floyd's sunglasses BTW?

Finally, it was the time we'd all been waiting for -- Helio & Julianne and Mel & Maks' last dances. Mel & Maks went first with a mambo that was spot on. No words in the music, just crazy Latin beats. They did wonderfully and the judges gave them triple 10s. Helio & Julianne's last dance was a quick step and it was definitely better than Mel & Maks' dance. He was so excited when they finished because he just knew he nailed it again. They received triple 10s from the judges also. Who will be the winning pair?

It's Helio & Julianne!!! Woohoo! They were so excited and I was excited just watching them. Yes, Mel & Maks have been great but Helio as come the furthest by far. I remember how awkward he looked out there in the beginning and just look at him now. What a great job!

What did you think about the show? Did you have a favorite moment? Do you think the right pair won?

Hooray for Julianne! Oops I mean Helio! ;)

I have not cheered like that for a reality show since Rob and Ambuh got eliminated from Amazing Race All Stars.

Seriously, as HD said Helio had come a long way during this season and that is a really, really big indication on the fantastic teaching and partnering skills of Julianne Hough. Will she be back next season? If the producers are smart she will be. Will she pull a third win in a row? Depends on who she is partnered with I guess.

Marie didn't win. Yippiee! Yes, she has lost wieght. Good for her. I have nothing but favorable opinions of her, but maybe she should stick to designing dolls.

Mel and Macks were good, but I think we all know the better dancers won last night.

Celine Dion. Jesus, is her five year contract at Ceasar's over already? Wasn't it nice beeing blessedly free of her for a while? I swear, I was a big fan of hers about fifteen years ago, but I am so over her now. She takes herself WAY too seriously. Meanwhile, even thought she had five years to think about it, her new album contains ZERO original songs. Come on Celine, not ONE new song? After five years?

Beauty and the Geek Recap:

Big Surprise from the BatG producers this season. We all tuned-in last night to watch some sort of quiz to determine the winners for finalists Sam and Nicole (the guy beauty and girl geek combo) or Dave and Jasmine.

BUT, instead of a quiz and winner segment that was filmed months ago, we find out that we the viewers get to vote to pick the winners. YES!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who has watched the show this season knows that Dave and Jasmine truly deserve to win more than Sam and Nicole.

Maybe the producers, which let's remember includes Ashton Kutcher, decided to do the vote thing this season to determine if t he viewers like or dislike the reverse gender couple twist. That would explain why every week the chellenges or quizes have been rigged to favor Sam and Nicole.

Also, if the fact that CWTV.com was crashed hard last night when the show ended is any indication, LOTS of people were trying to vote. (No phone voting. Only texting or on the web site)

We'll have to tune-in next week to see the winners.

Woohoo! Of course the right pair won. The show was actually good last night -- I watched it all without falling asleep. It started off right with Marie being eliminated and I liked that all the eliminated dancers came back to dance again. I don't remember if they did that in previous seasons. Everyone did seem to be having a really good time. I was surprised that Mel and Maks chose the dance they did -- they certainly had better dances to choose from. Helio and Julianne definitely made the right choice. But, in the end, I don't think that made any difference -- the fans had already spoken. My "favorite" moment was a clip of Mel and Maks where he was making embarrassing noises and Mel's reaction.

I am so happy Helio won. Being a racing fan he was my fav. from the begining. My fav moment was when they gave him the milk (Indy) I was also glad to see his owner and other recognizable people rooting for him. I know all the racing sites Jayski.Cheers & Jeers etc.. where all promoting him and I'm glad it paid off.

Kind of wanted Mel and Maks to win, not bc they are better then Helio and Julianne, but bc it would have been a more exciting ending.

Both couples are of equal par, I think.
And I would have been happy if either one, but just more of an exciting ending if Mel and Maks would have taken it.

I wonder if Cheryl Burke is secretly pissed, that Julianne has become the new Cheryl.

Personally I prefer Cheryl and hope she gets paired with a better partner next season.

I am so thrilled that Helio won. He changed from a non-dancer into a great dancer and he enjoyed himself so much doing it. You just had to love him. And I'm glad that Mel didn't win. Yes, she's great but she's had professional dance training before so I've said from the beginning that she shouldn't have been allowed to compete against the novices. I'm just wondering what the Producers must be thinking since it was so obvioous that their dream finale was supposed to be Mel anainst Sabrina and what happened... Helio won!!! I guess that just goes to show that they can put the "fix" in but the fans have the final say!!!!

I think that next season, if Julianne is participating, that the Producers will be sure and give her someone like Wayne Newton or Jerry Springer so that she can't win a third time. They did it to Cheryl so why not to Julianne too?!?!?!

I agree Susie about Mel. However, I considered Sabrina a professional dancer same as Mel B. And I felt really bad for Cheryl getting stuck with Wayne Newton. So, now that Julianne has had two consecutive wins, its time for her to get...lets see...Who? Maybe Dan Rather or maybe Bob Barker. I wonder if a woman star will ever win DWTS again. Glad for Helio over Mel B, although Jennie was my pick from the start. As for Marie, well..., can't fault her for having such a strong fan base. Its as much about popularity as it is about talent. And except for her freestyle Doll Dance, I think she worked very hard, especially after the death of her dad.

HD, I definitely agree that the show was too long. No need for 2 hours or even 90 minutes. I actually dozed for a bit and almost missed the annoucement of the winners. Mel B, I thought, looked hurt.

I am so glad Helio and Julianne won this time. I agree he had the furthest to go, because his profession has absolutely nothing to do with dancing -- as it should be. This is supposed to be about stars with no dancing experience.

Yup, I think Julianne will get a hard match up next year -- like they have done that to Cheryl the last couple of times.

I felt bad for Mel and Max, but... they had an unfair dancing edge over the majority. I did hear that Max did hurt himself the night before, and I feel badly because I really like Max. I was tickled that he came in to the finals. If memory serves me right, this is the furthest he has gotten with his partner.

I was glad that Marie was third place - with her making it to the final show because of her fan base not her dancing - third was the right call.

The rest of the show was much more fun than I expected, I think they did a good job, and it was fun to see the majority season's dancers perform again. Sad to see this season end.

Because Julianne is about ninety times hotter than Cheryl.

I see no logical reason why the producers would be against keeping Julianne at the top. It's good for her, it's good for them, and it's good for the lucky bastard who gets to be her partner.

I just filled-out my application to be on the February Big Brother and one question was 'What would you do if being on Big Brother made you famous?' I answered "try to become Julianne Hough's partner on Dancing with the Stars"

:)

EricC, you are hysterical. I hope you get both your dreams, BB9 and dancing with Julianne!!

Susie said:

EricC-
I think they will do that to Julianne because they will want to make the other dancers happy. Pairing Julianne with someone with real potential again would mean that she would probably, rightfully, win again. The other dancers want a chance to be paired with the best and they want the two time winners to be handicapped so they can have a chance at the big win and therefore the money and the puplicity. It may not be fair but that's the way life is. There was a lot of grumbling from the other dancers after Cheryl won twice and some of them left because of it so I can believe it will happen again. Like I said, not fair, but it'slife!!!

And good luck with your two dreams!!!!

I too think they'll stick Julianne with a below average person in the next season. You all heard that Maks won't be on the next one right? I think I read that he wanted to take a break from the show.

That makes HamsterDame sad. :(

Julianne is hot, but what about Edyta, she is way hotter.

Edyta always gets the good guy but not good enough to win guy.
I think its about time Edyta gets a winner next time.

Bc of Juliannes back to back wins on her only 2 DTWS seasons, she has gotten a bit cocky.
I like her, but she seems un natural, like she is always mugging it up for the camera.
The rest of the dancers seem more real then she does.

Cheryl is not hot as far as looks go, but her dancing makes her hot.

Bummed about Maks too.
I think this loss probably really hit him hard.
