Viennese Schmiennese

I found last night's Dancing With the Stars kinda blah. After sleeping on it, I think I know the reasons why. First of all, even though Samantha Harris wasn't that bad last night (she and her dress looked fabulous!), I really missed Drew Lachey. Second, I don't like the Viennese waltz. I dislike it even more than the "regular" waltz.

Below is a list of who danced in what order, their dance, and what their scores were:

  1. Mark & Kym - Viennese waltz - 7-8-7 for a 22 out of 30
  2. Sabrina & Mark - Paso doble - 10-10-10 for a perfect 30 out of 30
  3. Jane & Tony - Viennese waltz - 8-9-9 for a 26 out of 30
  4. Floyd & Karina - Paso doble - 7-8-8 for a 23 out of 30
  5. Mel & Maks - Viennese waltz - 8-9-9 for a 26 out of 30
  6. Cameron & Edyta - Paso doble - 9-9-9 for a 27 out of 30
  7. Marie & Jonathan - Viennese waltz - 9-9-8 for a 26 out of 30
  8. Jennie & Derek - Paso doble - 8-10-9 for a 27 out of 30
  9. Helio & Julianne - Viennese waltz - 9-9-9 for a 27 out of 30

And now, some random notes about their performances. Mark Cuban did better (I think) but I wonder if it's enough to save them this week. I really loved Sabrina and Mark's dance (first perfect score of the season!) last night; however, I had a hard time concentrating because I kept wanting to laugh because of the song they danced to: Dead or Alive's 'You Spin Me Round'. Jane Seymour? Meh. I really liked Floyd & Karina's dance and was paying special attention to them since Floyd thinks they're not being scored fairly. I'm still on the fence about that.

Mel and Maks' routine was, again, meh. I loved the Superman theme of Cameron & Edyta's paso doble! I'm glad the judges loved it too. I couldn't stop staring at the abundance of road kill at the bottom of Marie's dress. More weird music with Jennie & Derek's routine but I liked their dance. Helio & Julianne's waltz was my favorite waltz of the night but that's not really saying much because I can't stand that style of dance!

What did you think about the show last night? Did you think any of the scores were inflated like I thought some were? Do you like watching the Viennese waltz and if so, what do you like about it? Who do you want to go home and who do you believe will go home?

P.S. I hope no Viennese were insulted in the publishing of this post.

I voted alot for Mark Cuban bc I really like his energy and attitude on the show.

I hope he stays, but I am not sure he will.

I like Sabrina but I prefer to see the people with NO dance exp or training improve then someone who already knows how to dance (I was always an Emmitt Smith fan over a Mario fan for that reason)
So to me Sabrina IS great, but she also supposidly dances for a living (not really sure what a Cheetah Girl is but thats what I heard)

Mel B is also good, but always forgettable to me. I think the judges are overinflating her scores a bit.

I really enjoy Marie. I thought she was great last night, and I love the performer in her.

Jane Seymour is elegant, but one dimensional.

I LOVE Jennie. Shes my fave of the girls. This week and last week she really was amazing. And shes humble about it (which is not like Sabrina or Mel B)
The fact that I was a big 90210 fan doesnt hurt either, so nice to see Ian Ziering in the audience...

Helio is great. Personally I think Julianne is a bit conceited this year after her win last year, but shes great too and I like her.

I agree with Floyd, the judges ARE too scoring him too hard. I think hes a natural, and the whole hes too out of control thing, I dont get. Thats him having rhythm and personality.

Cameron really stepped it up last night. Dont he and Edyta look like a gorgeous couple?

Samantha Harris looked great so soon after her baby. Her dress strategically covered her stomach in a way that you didnt even notice. I like her better then Drew as the host.

It was cool to see Len Goodman override Carrie Anns strict adherence to the No Lift policy.
The lifts were like 2 inches off the ground.

I get it that its a liability against injury, but what if the contestants signed away any liability and were allowed to do lifts if they wanted?

I predict bottom 2 tonight:
Mark and Kym
Jane and Tony
prob Mark and Kym going home, but I tried real hard to keep him around

Somewhat disappointed that Floyd left tonite. Really thought he had improved and tried very hard. So when will Marie O. take a nose dive. Did not see the lifts they kept complaining about. Just so proud of Jennie Garth. She has really worked hard. This season seems somewhat different from prior DWTS season....

I hate to say it, but I watched 25 minutes of this show off the website, and I was bored stiff. I don't know if it's the Viennese waltz or the fact that they have to show so much besides the dancing, or what. This is the first year I've watched this show, and frankly, I don't care what the contestants did to prepare for the show. Just show the dances already! Just my opinion, anyways.
