Tango y Jive

Last night's Dancing With The Stars was really fun to watch for many reasons. First of all, the couples danced one of my two of my favorite dances - the tango and jive. Second, many of the stars really stepped it up and it most definitely showed in their scores. Third, I was glad that Jane Seymour was back. (I was under the mistaken impression that she wouldn't be dancing this week and would be back next week instead.)

Sabrina & Mark got the ball rolling with the jive. DWTS usually picks a 'good' couple to start things off and this being Sabrina I expected a really good performance. They didn't disappoint. It was a cute routine with tons of energy. The judges loved it and thought it was their best performance so far. They scored 9-9-9 for a score of 27 out of 30.

Cameron & Edyta were next with their tango. I like Cameron but I'm not a real big fan of props and gimmicks on this show. He started the dance by wearing nerd glasses and playing the shy role. But then five seconds later he threw off the glasses and things were all normal. I get that it was the tango and it's supposed to be a sexy and stimulating dance but the opening was just cheesy. I think it would have been better if he'd scrambled for his glasses at the end or something as if he was flustered after having danced with a beautiful woman. But anyways, the dancing was good and the judges like it well enough proclaiming he was a 'lady killer'. They scored 8-7-8 for a 23 out of 30.

Hey, there's Brad and Chad!

Mark & Kym were the third couple to dance and their jive was kinda painful to watch. In their practice clip, his fake hip was giving him a hard time and it seemed to still be hurting him during the dance. Either that or he was afraid to move. He came across rather wooden and the judges weren't too impressed either. I like Mark and really hoped he'd have a better performance but alas. They received 6-7-7 from the judges for a score of 20 out of 30.

Jennie & Derek danced the tango and made quite the impressive comeback! I really enjoyed their performance and thought they did a wonderful job. The judges loved it too and awarded them 9-8-9 for a 26 out of 30. Mel & Maks were the fifth couple to dance and they performed the jive. Very very very fun to watch! The judges thought it was Mel's best performance so far of the season and it sure showed in their scores. They were given 9-9-9 for a 27 out of 30.

Wayne & Cheryl was the next couple to dance. I hope he doesn't dance the jive because I don't think I could stand to watch that. Good! They're doing the tango. Classic tango with classic music. Boring performance though. The judges remarked that Cheryl led Wayne most of the time instead him leading her. Their scores were the lowest of the night: 6-6-6 for an 18 out of 30. But hey, Wayne said he's lost 20 pounds so far from all the dancing.

Floyd & Karina were the seventh couple to dance and they did the jive. Eeeks. Another gimmick with him jumping rope at the beginning. Overall, it was a tad better than the previous weeks. The judges wanted more details though (pointing toes, etc) and gave them 7-7-7 for a 21 out of 30.

Jane & Tony were the next couple up. The show went over what had happened with Jane in the last week concerning her mom's passing. She learned the tango in England and Tony was there to teach it to her. She said her dancing is what is keeping her together and they dedicated their dance to her mother. They danced a very traditional and very nice tango. The judges loved it and gave them 9-9-9 for a 27 out of 30.

Helio & Julianne were the next to last couple to dance and they danced the jive. In the practice clip, it showed how hard a time Helio was having with the dance and then that he twisted his ankle. He's a race car driver though and has been through worse. They had a good and very energetic jive. I was really glad that Julianne didn't hit her head on their ending! Poor Helio hurt his right knee (was it really bleeding?) and tore his pants. The judges liked them but not as much as they did last week. They received 8-8-8 for a 24 out of 30.

The last couple to dance were Marie & Jonathan and they really blew me away with their tango. It was an old-fashioned routine and they danced wonderfully. I'm not the biggest fan of Marie's but I have to give them props for their dance. It completely wowed me. The judges loved it too and gave them 9-8-9 for a 26 out of 30.

What did you think of last night's performances? I think my favorites were Sabrina & Mark, Jennie & Derek, and Marie & Jonathan. Oh, and Mel & Maks too! There were so many good performances though that I almost feel bad picking faves. LOL!

Who do you think needs to go home tonight? I definitely think it's time for Wayne to go. Mark should probably go too before he messes up his hip again. Although, it's not like he doesn't have the money to get it fixed again. I still don't want to see anybody hurt. Floyd's time is running out also unless he really steps things up and stops half-assing things.

I can't wait to see who goes home tonight. Not sure yet though if I'm gonna watch Billy Ray & Miley perform. Hmmm.

I think that Cameron was doing a Clark Kent impression after the remarks from last week. Still cheesy though. I really like this gentleman so I hope that he really steps it up this week or his fate will soon be sealed! Didn't think his performance was too great at all. While he has great posture, his legs looked pretty stiff!
Love Helio and sorry he wasn't as good as the last two weeks.
Jane was good, but not worth a 27! Think she got a few sympathy votes.
I think that Jenny was good but not deserving of the score. Glad to see she finally has a smile on her face.
Marie was the only one I missed, damn! Not her biggest fan, but sounds as if she did well.
Pretty Boy Floyd is really disappointing. He had so much potential but alas going no where I am afraid!
Going home/bottom, should be Wayne, Mark or Floyd. Still don't know if the fans will give up on Wayne yet so my pick would have to be Mark for the big exit.

I missed Marie's performance, as well, since I dosed off during one of ABC's many commercials. Since I saw everyone else, I thought, no big loss, but it sounds like maybe she stepped it up after all. I watched all of the Dancing episodes this week on ABC.com, and up until now, I felt that Marie was very overrated. What I really don't get, however, is why Wayne Newton is still there! He's as much of an advertisement against plastic surgery as Michael Jackson is! Even with all of the botox, he still looks like he's 65 (or even older). I definitely think he looks better with a mustache and long hair, though.

I like Mark Cuban a lot. He's fun to watch, and even if he's not the best dancer, I love his smile. I definitely think this competition is Sabrina's to lose. Every performance from Sabrina has been sassy, energetic, and entertaining.

I want to see Wayne go home tonight. I also don't really like the soap actor very much. On last week's show, it seemed that they were showing an acting sequence in the dance studio. If that's an example of his acting ability, remind me never to watch his show, because I've never seen such a bad acting job in my life. Scene's like that one could actually hurt his career. I like the boxer dude. He doesn't flow with the music that well, but his energy is outstanding.

HD I'm afraid I only caught bits and pieces of the show. Monday night is Heros and well.. nuff said there.
I did catch Marie and Jane's dances - thought they were both very good.
Unfortunatly I also saw Helio's. It's not that he isn't a good dancer or very energetic, I find myself distracted by the open mouth thing he does through the entire dance. It's like he's a ventriliquist dummy - the jaws just unhinge - creeps me out....brrrr.

I get the feeling that Waynes many fans are keeping him on the show. This sounds familiar, hmm. Jerry?
