Reality In Review: Week of October 7, 2007

Were you busy tanning, crashing, and fishing last week? If so, check out some of the reality news you might have missed.

America's Next Top Model Season 8 contestant, Jael Strauss, had more nude photos of her surface on Thursday. Imagine that. Oh and don't worry about clicking on that link. No nudie pics there but be careful what you click on after that. Regarding this season of ANTM, Victoria Marshman believes her abrasive personality may have been a major factor in her elimination from the house. She also doesn't think her editing on the show was fair. Again, imagine that. A reality television show contestant complaining about their editing.

Hot Navy man, Andy Baldwin of The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman fame, will be deployed to Iraq in January. Him and Tessa are also split (again?). In this season's Bachelor news, Reality TV World interviewed Solisa Shoop about why she thinks she didn't get a rose from Brad in the latest episode. Interesting though that she said she doesn't think she even met Brad's twin brother, Chad.

Guess what? I'm not the only one who isn't looking forward to Samantha Harris' return to Dancing With the Stars this week. Check out the video clip over at Defamer with Jane Seymour's dancing partner, Tony Dovolani, talking about how he helped Jane in her time of grief. In other DWTS news, Floyd Mayweather is unhappy with the judges concerning how they're scoring him and Wayne Newton thought his exit was inevitable.

Dave Cruser, the latest castaway to be booted from Survivor, had some interesting things to say in an interview with Reality TV World. Some of the highlights include: he was "found" while at a Wal-Mart modeling casting, Frosti was his best tribemate, he's pulling for Denise to win it all, and somebody got sick from parasites after Dave left Survivor but while they were still playing. Hmmm. I wonder who that could be.

Project Runway starts Season 4 on November 14th so news on some of this season's fashionistas are starting to pop up more and more. Rami Kashou, Jillian Lewis, Elisa Jimenez, and Marion Lee are a few from this last week. If you're interested (like I am!), you can find more designer profiles over at BuddyTV and even read an interview with last season's winner, Jeffrey Sebelia. BTW, why couldn't we have been like Canada and had our PR start this last week? Grrrr.

There are a couple of brand new reality shows that began last week: America's Psychic Challenge (Lifetime) and Pageant Place (MTV). America's Psychic Challenge (looks really weird) will air regularly on Fridays and if you missed the first one you can watch it now on Lifetime's site linked above. Pageant Place features a now sober former Miss USA Tara Conner and other beauty queens sharing an apartment in New York City. If you missed PP's debut on Wednesday, you can watch it here.

The Fox Reality Really Awards 2007 were handed out over the weekend. Not surprisingly, the hamsters of Big Brother 8 won more awards than any of the other shows - five. You can read who won what here. In other BB8 news, Kansas hamster Jessica Hughbanks confirmed once and for all that the producers didn't let America's Player, Eric Stein, use the POV because they wanted the nominations at the time to stay the same. Am I bitter? Yes. Will I still watch next season? You better believe it!

Wrapping up the week's miscellaneous reality news: Paula Abdul has beautiful skin; Elisabeth Hasselbeck plans her maternity leave; Corey Clark plead guilty; and Jonny Fairplay sued Danny Bonaduce. Heather Mills continued her battle for her share of Paul's fortune; Scott Butki interviewed author, Bill Bryan, who penned Keep It Real (great book BTW), David Hasselhoff drank a tad too much yet again, Bravo gave us Top Chef extras, and Steve Adubato of MSNBC wondered if reality has gone too far.

Be sure to catch next week's Reality in Review where I'll wrap up all of the week's reality news you just couldn't live without.

I love your reality in review piece. I watch the award show last night and I was happy to see the hamsters again. Did you happen to notice how unhappy Jen was everytime she didnt win?
