What A Wednesday!

Last night was a great night of reality TV! Kid Nation was really good and it was hilarious how Emilie and a few cohorts tried to lock the chicken coop so that nobody could slaughter the chickens. But of course, they relented and the kids had chicken soup later. I liked the pipes competition! They should do something like that on Big Brother. Just sayin'. And what about Michael getting the gold star? Greg was a little upset about that wasn't he? He even said he'd do something about it. We'll see.

Where should I even begin with Kitchen Nightmares? That was a freaking crazy episode!!! Gordon stayed in New York City to help makeoever Dillons, an Indian/American/English restaurant that was just a couple of blocks from his own restaurant. Dillons was a perfect example of how not to run a restaurant.

The place was filthy! Flies buzzing all around the dining area, rotten food in the kitchen, and rat droppings and oodles of cockroaches in the basement with all of the food. I was seriously afraid I'd get food poisining just by watching through the TV screen. I did get nauseous quite a few times during the show. Ewwww!

And how many managers does a restaurant need? Martin was the General Manager, Andrew was the Operations Manager, Khan was the Floor Manager, and then there's Mohammad who was the owner who had no clue. Martin was awfully inept and lazy preferring to busy himself with his cell phone and have his hair stroked (???) by customers in the dining area. What? He quit at the end of the show and I'll bet that was when he immediately filed his lawsuit. BTW, the lawsuit was thrown out and the judge ordered all parties to mediation. Did you notice the quick little blurb at the end about how Purnima (was Dillons) is now successful? Ick.

On Dancing With the Stars, poor Josie Maran and her partner Alex made their exit. I wanted to see her stick around another week at least. And did you see Dolly Parton? Wow.

What did you think about last night's reality fare? It was a crazy night of programming that's for sure!

Kid Nation was good again. Loved the title of the episode -- To Kill or Not to Kill. The little kid on the red team with the dark and curly hair that the editors have made into the "commentator" is hilarious. What's wrong with the green team? They just can't get it together for the challenges. Taylor's days on the council might be numbered -- I think the other kids (except on the yellow team) are becoming impatient with her.

On DWTS I liked Mark Cuban -- sorry to see he was the bottom of the men. Just like last season, I think most of the women will get voted off first. I just don't picture a lot of men sitting at home voting (I know, I know, I'm sexist). As for Dolly Parton, how does she not fall over?

I taped Kitchen Nightmares and watched ANTM, which has jumped on the "green" bandwagon this year. Interesting photo shoot.

DWTS was good. Thought that Josie would go. Have to say I loved seeing Cuban in the bottom two. Now this is terrible, but it wasn't his dance, just him!! For anyone who knows anything about Mark Cuban, it was great to see that oversized ego of his, get bruised!! I wouldn't care if he could dance like Mario & Apollo combined, I would never want to see that idiot win! Helio, Cameron, Jenny and Floyd are my official favs. (For Now!) God, I have become one sick reality junkie!
I didn't get to see Kid Nation. Could you tell me if the Michael that won the gold star was the boy with the nice speech the first week? If so, that alone makes me happy.
Did catch Jessica and Eric on feed 1. I think it was good and I enjoy the two of them. Seems Eric is a little stunned by Whambers anti-semetic remarks. I think they are both real people that did an excellent job in the house considering what was on Erics plate.... D & D were in no way the dynamic duo, it was J & E. America is why they weren't in the final two, not D & D's game play!

From HD - Yes, Michael is that boy.

Kid Nation: A group a 10 to 15 year-olds gathering around while one of them axes the heads off of two living, clucking chickens might possibaly be the best reality TV moment in a long while. I can't wait to hear what the PETA freaks have to say about it! HA!

The "commentator" mentioned above is Jared and he is freakin hilarious! I loved the promo for next week in which they show a dust storm blowing through while Jared runs around yelling "it's a twister!" Read is bio here.. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/kid_nation/bios/jared/

Meanwhile, someone needs to smack Taylor accross the face... hard. "Beauty Queens don't do dishes." What!?! Do you see any tiaras around here? After somebody smacks her they need to oust her from the town council, then put her on outhouse duty.

You want to see something disturbing? check this out.. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/kid_nation/images/gallery/kn_01_taylor_03.jpg

Check this picture out... Do beauty queens also not wear seat belts?!? http://www.cbs.com/primetime/kid_nation/images/gallery/kn_01_taylor_02.jpg

I took jobs at restaurants, both family-run and chains, when I was in my teens and early twenties, and my experience tells me that the level of filth at Dillions is not at all unusual. Did you ever watch any of those hidden camera segments on Twenty-Twenty about fast food chains? Anyone who thinks that health inspectors keep restaurant kitchens clean had better think again. I'll bet there is not one restaurant in 500 that has the standards for cleanliness that was demonstrated in G-Ram's kitchen. Look closely at the restrooms and dining area. If they are not spotless, then the kitchen will be much worse. If you see anything that makes you squeamish, then get out! By the way, never, and I mean never send anything back to the kitchen. If it's not right, don't eat it and don't pay. It really pisses off the average cook when something comes back. I have heard cooks brag among themselves about what they had done to returned food. You only really know what you are eating if you make it yourself.

Yea, tell that to the waitress in Virginia who got ten years in the state penn for spitting in someone's drink. Tell that to the Navy guys who ejaculated on a pizza then give to another guy.. that was 17 years ago and they are still in prison.

Okay, first off, in response to the pictures of Taylor:
I think that beauty competitions are terrible ideas for children. It sends the wrong ideas to the children involved, and encourages them to act in ways inappropriate for their age. I think most of the parents who involve their children in this, are exploiting their children. That said, is it any wonder Taylor is stuck on herself? Kid Nation is just one more opportunity for exploitation for some of these kids. Taylor can be a great kid.

Second off, the class system on Kid Nation:
How can the kids show how they can create a great town, when they don't even get the opportunity to set up their own wage system or leadership? I think it would have been better to start everybody at the same wage, or to have children decide which jobs should go with each wage. Then they'd actually have some say on the town.

Third, I was surprised that nobody seemed to realize, that the more chickens you have, the more eggs. Also, that eggs are a source of protein.

Fourth, on the challenges: I'd like to see the people responsible for these challenges start working for Big Brother or Survivor for sure. These challenges are way better than any we've seen on the other reality shows.

I only watched ANTM, which was good. I'm looking forward to the makeovers, which are always my favorite. I love trying to guess who will break down crying. ;) My guess is that they will be next week or the week after.

And, hello, big news--during Top Chef last night they announced that Project Runway starts on November 14. Of course, Heidi announced that a long time ago, and Bravo said it wasn't set yet. LOL. Still, very exciting!

I enjoyed Kid Nation, but do think that Taylor is going to get a real reality moment pretty soon, if she doesn't start pulling her weight, and also directing the team of kids she selected to be the yellow team. The rest of the kids are getting restless.

I did get a kick out of the kids locking themselves in the Chicken coop to save their feathered friends... to no avail.

Greg was a very big help this last week... after he saw a gold star awarded. Michael on the otherhand, has been helpful both before the award and after, so I think the council made the right choice, but I am hoping if Greg keeps up the good work, that they recognize what he brings to the "nation" also. All in all another good show.

Enjoyed Dancing this week. A bit drawn out, they seemed to use a lot of filler, but was not surprised at who was the first to go. Thought it should be Wayne because he really was not a good dancer, but he has so many fans and is such an icon, that I knew that would not happen. I love the race car driver, what an upbeat guy! He is living this experience to the max - full throttle! If Floyd can tone it down so he doesn't look ready to do a knock down fight - should be able to go far. I think Maria will be the next lady to go. I like her, but wasn't impressed with the dancing. We'll see.

Loved the Jessica interview. Thanks!

I just read your link to the Gordon Ramsey lawsuit. It says that G-Ram was a captain in the British Special Forces, a martial arts expert, and a bare-knuckles fighting champion. I have never heard any of that before. Does anyone know if it is true or just the lawyer making stuff up to give good reason for his client to be terrified of Chef Ramsey?

It may only be the 2nd episode but I adore this show and the kids on it. I would be willing to debate anyone on the value of this program and putting the kids through it. I agree with others assessment that the producers of these challenges should be brought over to Big Brother. My, how I would have loved to see Dick attempting to do the pipeway. Also, the whiners on BB, what would they have said to having to use an outhouse, being cold, frozen water pump and killing their own food? Can you imagine the whining that would have gone on. Bravo to the kids.

Jared is hilarious. I too loved the preview, "It's a twister, it's a twister".

Can't think of one aspect of this program that I haven't enjoyed. Love it.

I am hooked on to the Dillons episode of Kitchen Nightmares. The most interesting forum thread is on TV Without Pity. Its funny to see how much everyone hated Martin, getting his hair stroked and how much obsessed everyone has gone with Vikas Mania. Man did this guy rock??????

To date this is the best episode of KM, BBC or FOX
