Ni hao!

Day 4 begins at the Fei Long camp with everybody working while JR is snoring. It seems the poor man gets tired easily and must take frequent naps. Todd and Amanda decide to ally together as a group of two and then approach Aaron about being their third wheel. Aaron accepts.

Meanwhile, over at Zhan Hu Dave is carrying on about getting his firepit built while Ashley's whining about not having any food. She wants to set up a tiny fire so they can eat some rice but Dave will have none of it. We also got our first blurred body part of the night - Ashley's groinal area. It seems her panties don't fit too well when you're looking at her from a side view if you know what I mean.

The first reward challenge of this season is a down and dirty one. Mud wrestling! Well, that's what it basically was. I'm still perplexed as to why some of them took the approach of 'I'm going to pull down your pants and pull off your top and hope you stop to put your clothes back on.' Besides the many blurred spots, we got to see many of them being quite physical with each other. One of the guys actually shoved one of the girls down by her head into the mud. Nice! Fei Long won reward which was fishing gear, a fishing boat, and they were able to 'kidnap' one member of Zhan Hu to take back to camp with them. That person would stay until the next immunity challenge.

They chose to take Jaime because they believed she was the ray of sunshine over at Zhan Hu and wanted to deprive them of her glorious light. Jeff gave Jaime a message that she was to open in private when she got to the Fei Long camp. The message was that she could pick one person in Fei Long to give a clue to. She chose Leslie and Leslie's clue was about the hidden immunity idol being at camp.

Day 6 at Fei Long begins with Leslie looking for the immunity idol. And then, she approaches Todd and tells him she wants him to trust her. And then? She tells him about the hidden immunity idol. Todd can't believe she told him. I can't either Todd. I can't either.

Time for immunity! Each tribe had some Chinese puzzle log they had to use to smash through two separate walls and then maneuver the puzzle log through some contraption. First tribe done with that and bangs the gong wins immunity. It was no contest really. Fei Long wins and one more member will be voted out of Zhan Hu.

At tribal council, Jeff's going back and forth with Dave and Ashley. Ashley told him (and everybody else) she'll be voting for Dave to go. Time for voting.

Bye bye Ashley. We hardly knew ya. I'm sure the people in charge of 'blurring' are glad you're gone too.

Is it just me, or is this season of Survivor rapidly becoming another Survivor:Phillipines?

God, that season sucked.

I actually like Leslie, though I know that she doesn't have much of a chance of going far. The strongest thing on her side is being a part of the winning tribe. I understand her rationale for telling someone the clue for the immunity idol, but it won't do her much good if Todd finds it since he would never give it to her. She would have been MUCH better off keeping her mouth shut, particularly since no one knew that she had the clue, or that there was a clue.

I'm sad they really haven't showed Erik yet. =(

I had such hope for this season. It was so boring last night that I actually folded laundry.

Boring? I think its good so far. The show never really gets going till around the merge time anyway.I was voting for the poker player(hes the one who smashed the girls face in the mud by the way) then in the first episode I thought he made a bad choice(why is everyone wanting to give up all there info to the little guy?) but he seemed a little smarter lastnight.

At least giving Leslie the clue got her to stop agonizing over not being able to read her bible. CBS is playing up the religious outsider again, just like in BB.

Why was Leslie in such a hurry to find the idol? She should have kept the info to herself for a while. Maybe she could have figured it out.

They should have voted Dave out. Now that Ashley is gone, he'll start picking on the others and they'll see what a bully he really is.

I agree, I think the past few seasons have been boring for Survivor. It takes a while for me to feel connected.
I used to not feel this way but the past few, have been lukewarm and then at about the merge I get more interested.
I still watch the whole season though.
I dont know why bc Big Brother I get invested Day 1, but maybe thats bc Big Brother is on so much more, so you get to know the characters alot quicker.

Anyway, I dont really have any faves yet.
I am fine with Ashley leaving though, what was up with her wearing a Bandana over her huge boobs? It barely covered them and I am sure if you were standing underneath her you got full view.

I was surprised bc I thought the girls would have voted for Dave and kept Ashley bc she seemed to have some girlfriends on her tribe.

I am not quite sure I get John Roberts strategy. He definitely has a plan on the mental side and thats interesting.
But pretending to be lazy?
Thats risky.
As soon as his tribe loses and goes to tribal council, he is at risk of being voted off bc at this early stage in the game its all about being a strong physical player.
Not sure I get his rationale, but I like that hes playing the game from a poker player point of view.

I thought it was a very dumb move on Leslie's part. If nothing else, she should have waited until she had somebody she could thoroughly trust before sharing that kind of information.

I definitely was hoping that Dave would get sent home. He was the main reason that his tribe lost the challenges. Everybody knows that if you don't have food in your body, you're not going to be as strong. I hate when guys get patronizing like that, as well. Ashley was only telling him to his face, what the others were saying behind his back. Sherea was definitely not liking the patronization. They should have went with Peih-Gee for the leader. Even though she was telling them what to do last week, she was willing to hear other people's input, and wasn't patronizing.

While Jean-Robert may be coming across as lazy, he's pulling through for his team in the challenges. I don't know if this is a good long term strategy, though, because the other team will still see him as a strong threat. However, if it means that his team goes into the merge with numbers, it could be a winning strategy.

I like this season, so far. I do wish that Survivor would come on twice a week, so we'd get to see a little more of the social maneuvering, and survival stuff. CBS could easily change it to a two times a week show, with one show including the reward challenge, and the other the immunity challenge. I never feel we get to see enough of the characters of the show.

I loved it, loved it, loved it.

I agree with some others that it takes awhile to really get into it but I am a major Survivor fan and wish I were about 25 years younger than I am, let me tell you, I'd be applying.

Anyhow, wanted to share this with others. Jaime is a native of my town and although she is in college her family still resides here. Lo and behold, who should show up Thursday night at one of our local spots but Jaime and Erik. Wonder if there is something going on with these two that we'll all find out about later.

I'm attaching the link to the article in our paper with their photos.

From HD - Thank you for that! Very cool indeed!

Ok HD..I've seen 2 Survivor shows. From other comments, I guess I picked the wrong season to watch. But I didn't need to read those comments to know...I'm deleting it from my TIVO. Gad is that show boring or what?

We've already seen the criers, prayers and self-absorbed creatures on BB8. Where does CBS get these people??

No wonder Elisabeth Hasselbeck made it as a contestant.

From what I've seen, it doesn't take brains, brawn or talent to be a "Survivor".

Has anyone checked to see if there were any DNA in those re-called products from China? I mean these characters are full of "lead".

CBS needs to go back to the "drawing room"..grab the crayons from their producers and hire someone "Smarter Than a 5th Grader".

The other networks aren't much better..
"The Bachelor and Personality Deprived Girls", "Dancing with the "D" List Stars, "The Nanny and Spoiled Brats", "Wife Swap or How to Commit Bigamy" and the list goes on and on and on.......

Anyway,I'm glad you're still here for us to "vent" on.

From HD - Watch it and make up your own mind. Personally, I think I might have been too harsh on the first episode. I also thought the second ep was much better than the first.

Hi...I was an avid reader once I discovered sillyhamsters.com but I've never commented...so here I am with my first post on your new site. And let me say I think you do a great job recapping shows and all.

So, I finally got arouond to watching Survivor last night and I personally would have kept Ashley and sent Dave home. I can't believe the tribe couldn't come together and back her or Jamie up. He wouldn't let anyone build a fire or cook any food until the fire pit was done? They all knew they should eat but no one had the guts to stand up to him and say so. That was stupid...it's no wonder they lost both challenges. Then he somehow got the rest of the tribe to think he is valuable and should stay. He's not man enough to be a leader...even though he says he's never really been one or it's been a long time he should know that being a dictator is not how you lead people. (Oh and the faces he kept...I think he and Courntney should have an eye rolling contest--it'd be a close one.) He needs to go!

Jean-Robert's strategy is dangerous, and even though Aaron is calling him on his laziness he needs to be careful not to step on other people's toes.

And what's with Leslie thinking she could trust Todd? Does she totally lack the the social skills to see that he would only use her...he is too young to align with...if she felt the need to "trust" someone why not James? She shouldn't have told anyone it was only day 5 and the first clue.

I wish Survivor was on twice a week too. Then we could learn more about each player and see some real gameplay and double talk. I mean, who knows, our comments could be way off base thanks to creative editing and being able to only see an hour each week.

One last comment...my husband is from England and has only been over here since May and he was so confused whenever the editors would "blur" out nudity...he couldn't figure out what was happening because in Europe they don't edit quite like we do over here. It was funny. Ok....I'm done writing my novel now--sorry it was so long. Thanks.

I enjoyed this weeks show. Thanks for the update HD. I stepped out for a few minutes and missed Leslie sharing her info with Todd. Why would any one do that? Are we missing some valuable bonding time?

I thought both competitions were interesting and fun. I was surprised no one on the show mention the girl's head being shoved into the mud. For a breif second I was worried he had hurt her - he didn't let go right away and it looked like she was struggling to breath.

How funny is Jeff? He knows exactly what is going on and he reads their expresions well enough to call them on it when they try to let things slide by without comment. This is why I like survivor way more than BB.

I love the idea of Survivor twice a week. Good gracious, if we can have Dancing with the Stars 3 nights a week....

Jean Roberts better hope his tribe doesn't lose next week cause he is playing a very dangerous game. Dave got lucky. His tribe decided to keep the muscle around.

looking forward to next week.

Is it just me or did Ashley's lip rings make her look like a vampire? They were distracting enough to keep your eyes away from the volleyballs on her chest.
