Hello Everybody

| | Comments (12)

Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is HamsterDame.  I know, my parents were cruel.  I have been blogging Big Brother over at Silly Hamsters for Real Networks since 2005. Yes, I am definitely a Big Brother freak.

Besides Big Brother though, I'm a freak for all things TV but especially Reality and have been since I can remember. It all began for me with Cops and The Real World. Give me Reality or give me death! From the trashy to the cheesy to the weird to the deranged. I can't help it. I love it all.

I'm hoping that you love it all too because if you don't, then what are you doing here? But since you probably love it too I hope you'll stick around here on Silly Reality and share your thoughts on the shows. You may not agree with some of the things I say and that's perfectly fine! Your opinion is your opinion and I'm very respectful of that so don't be afraid to say what's on your mind.

Finally, let me address one more thing. Silly Reality will NOT be spoiler-free. If you don't want to know whose torch was snuffed out, who got the rose, or whose time on the runway is done then it might be beneficial to you to wait until the show airs in your area before checking in here. I live in the Central time zone so I'm watching the shows at the same time the Eastern folks are. Consider yourselves forewarned!

With that said, I can't wait for this upcoming fall season to start up! Kid Nation and Survivor are a couple of the starters this week. I've been waiting for both of those for awhile now - especially Survivor!

While you're waiting for the shows to start and/or when you're looking for info or some other places to mingle be sure to check out some of those links in my sidebars over there on the right.

Let's settle in and have some fun. And to all of you joining me over here from Silly Hamsters, "Howdy!"

Never received an email, and just wanted to make sure I got into your blog early, as I missed half the summer with BB8. Thank you for a job well done.

Hi. Followed you over from Silly Hamsters, which I only found about a week or so ago. I am sure you will do the same fine job here as there.

If you don't like producer interference with Big Brother, don't you just have to expect massive interference with Kid Nation? I mean, there is no way they can turn underage children loose in the way the commercials imply. I don't expect any form of actually reality with that show, so I have decided to skip it. Look forward to your comments on Survivor, though.

What's your opinion on all the controversy about Kid Nation? I think it might be a little overblown myself, considering critics haven't even seen an episode (CBS declined to give them one-but another one they didn't give them was the first episode of the first season of a little show called Survivor..), and a lot of their news is based on second-hand information (the contract issue was overblown because contracts have to cover every possibility, no matter how remote it may be, It looks onerous, but the parents went over it and signed it, so they were OK with it). I want to see how the show is portrayed, before I make any judgements about the show.

From HD - I think the controversy is overblown also. I don't know how good the show will be but I like the concept behind the show. I did read where even though critics weren't allowed to pre-screen the premiere, the parents, the kids, and their teachers were. Hmmm.

I feel like I am stalking you HD! lol

I am sad that BB8 is ending, but excited for the fall shows to start. I LOVE ANTM, Project Runway, American Idol and Hells Kitchen, not to mention Rock of Love and I Love New York and Flavor of Love. I am excited to see the new season of ANTM, and can't wait to see Kitchen Nightmares and Kid Nation. AHHHHHHHH I'm addicted! :)

It's great that you're doing this site in addition to Silly Hamsters!

I look forward to many heated discussions! ;-)

Yea! The worst part of BB ending is SH fading to black. We hamster watchers like our Hamster Dame, we does.

a few questions to ponder:

-Will KN turn into Lord of the Flies?

-Will Gordon Ramsey scare the toque off another chef victim?

-Will Heidi be preggers at the end of this season again?

-Will Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi take a turn around the ballroom floor as the first gay couple?

-Will Amber try out for ANTM? (BTW- did you see Dani nickname her "Whamber" on BBAD last night!")

-Will the Peach wear a cheesy article of Chinese clothing sometime during the season?

Inquiring minds want to know.

40 kids, no adults, this show will be great
Accents and cute lisps'll be to what we relate,
Cowboy hats donned, these kids look the look
Sadly their sunk since no one can cook!

I'm going to give Kid Nation a pass for now. I'm actually opposed to children working in the entertainment industry. I know that this is not going to change any time soon. However, note how many of the children grow up to have major psychological problems. In addition, I don't think children are old enough, to really make informed decisions about money, or are really prepared to become public figures. While many adults also have this problem, you can only be a child once. There has been some news about CBS refusing to allow the government to ensure that child labor laws were followed for this show. I think this idea would be just as interesting using adults. So, sorry, I just have too much trouble with the concept. I hope that their ratings are so bad, that they don't try it again.

Got to check out Rob and Trevor's take on the Survivor contestants (Sept. 18). I brought up the cbs Survivor page up and read along as they made comments on their personal preferences. They were hilarious!
